Overview
We are looking for a diligent and highly motivated individual to join the growing Cypress tax department. The Senior Tax Manager will report directly to the SVP, Tax and will be primarily focused on meeting the Company’s tax compliance and reporting needs as well as assisting in development and M&A opportunities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player who has demonstrated background in both partnership and corporate taxation.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the Company’s fund level partnership returns ensuring the timely filing of the Company’s federal, state, and local income tax returns, including reviewing the work product and managing relationships with external advisors.
Responsible for reviewing the HLBV models for tax equity partnerships.
Support the business related to tax implications of development and M&A opportunities
Responsible for liaising directly with Tax Equity Investors across our funds
Responsible for the resolution of federal, state and local tax notices and audits.
Maintain, document, and develop income tax related governance and internal controls.
Identify and implement best practice process improvements across the tax function.
Responsible for development of tax team members
Perform other duties as requested by management
Education & Experience Required

BS in Accounting or Tax, MS in Tax is a plus
CPA required
Minimum 6-8 years of partnership tax experience with large corporate or public accounting firm
Big4 experience strongly preferred
Proficient in complex partnership concepts including allocations and HLBV reporting
Solar or other renewable energy experience is strongly preferred
Experience with financial modeling and Investment Tax Credit processes is preferred
Experience in M&A transactions is a plus
People management and development experience
Must be detail oriented, resourceful and organized
Ability to multi-task and work in tight time frames and deadlines
Effectively communicates with regulatory agencies, tax reviewers, state, local, independent auditors, attorneys, peers and all levels of corporate management
Must be a self-starter who handles multiple projects with competing priorities with minimum supervision
Location
The preferred location for this role is one of our office locations: Durham, NC; Washington, DC; or New York City, NY. The Washington, DC office is preferred. Our team operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office schedule of three days per week.
Compensation
The salary range for the position is $120,000-$170,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
