Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the Senior Telecommunications Engineer serves as a technical resource for broadband Internet and communications networks in California. The main responsibilities include: Evaluating technology, engineering design, costs, and feasibility of proposed broadband infrastructure projects for California Advanced Service Fund (CASF) and Line Extension Program installations. Conducting on-site visits of telecommunications facilities for CASF projects to confirm proper design, installation, and compliance with grant awards. Determining compliance with CPUC standards and regulations. Preparing reports, memos, resolutions, and presentations regarding CASF applications and projects, and assisting Administrative Law Judges in proceedings as assigned. Serving as the lead for the CASF team, coordinating the work of 4-5 analysts/engineers in evaluating CASF project proposals, proceedings, and preparing resolutions.
