At Orb, every team member drives meaningful impact, and we’re just getting started.About the roleAs a core member of the infrastructure team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a high bar for reliability. Our customers depend on our systems being operational, as downtime can directly lead to lost revenue. You’ll be responsible for the infrastructure powering the entire product, from event ingestion, API services, alerting, invoicing, and everything in between.In this role you willLead infrastructure resiliency efforts - recovery mechanisms, tenant isolation, load spike handling, etcImprove observability and operability of our systemsBuild performance-critical, user-facing infrastructure (eg. real-time event processing)Plan scaling initiatives to handle large customer growthPartner with other engineering teams to ensure we build reliable product featuresLearn from a talented peer group, and share your expertiseAbout youYou think deeply about edge cases, failure modes, bottlenecks, etcYou have a knack for investigating and debugging tricky errors and performance issuesYou enjoy building scalable infrastructure for a high-growth productYou can effectively mentor fellow engineers on best practices (observability, rollout strategies, risk mitigation, etc)You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, and you’ve worked in in the infrastructure domain for 4+ yearsOrb’s Tech StackAt Orb, we believe great engineers can learn any stack, so you do not need experience with these specific tools and we encourage you to apply regardless.Frontend: Typescript + React + Tailwind CSSBackend: PythonDatastores: PostgreSQL + Apache Druid+ ClickhouseStreaming Platforms: Kafka + Spark StreamingCloud Platform: AWSPlease note: We value in-person collaboration and have built a hybrid, in office culture requiring 3 days per week at our HQ in downtown San Francisco.
