Please note that this role is in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our office comes alive on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays! Three times a week, our Bay Area team gathers in our office located in San Francisco's Financial District (580 California St) for All Hands meetings, collaborative sessions, innovation-driven brainstorming, and events that bring us closer together. Our space has everything we need—from cozy rooms for 1:1 mentoring and focused work to larger rooms designed for team activities. Experience with the following: Designing and building systems and services that enhance user productivity on our platform. Developing communication and messaging tools to facilitate collaboration and feedback. Creating an engaging and scalable peer review system to identify and distribute high-quality academic research. Building a scalable newsfeed that highlights the latest research across all fields. Developing tools and platforms that enable academics to publish articles directly to a social networking platform. Implementing advanced search products and personalized analytics. Qualifications: 4+ years of professional software development experience designing and building large scalable systems, consumer-facing web apps, or web platforms in a Unix/Linux environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to learn new concepts quickly. These skills are typically acquired through coursework required to complete a Bachelor's degree. Technical Skills: Willingness to learn and work with the Ruby on Rails stack.
