About The Company
Valon is building the AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing. We are a Series C company backed by a16z, transforming industries that others have written off as too complex to innovate. We built and operate our own mortgage servicing business managing $110+ billion in loans to deeply understand the complexity of software in regulated industries. ValonOS is our unified platform that makes every process structured and programmable and positions us for the AI era. When everything flows through one system with rich data, AI agents automate tasks and continuously improve operations.
Note: This role involves in-office collaboration with top clients and travel. Candidates should be based out of NY or SF and be willing to travel to client locations 25-50% of the time.
About The Role
We are building the AI-native operating system for regulated finance—starting with mortgage servicing. Our system of record powers real operations at national scale, with $100B+ in loans, 500K+ customers, and AI agents executing real workflows. As a Solutions Engineer, you’ll be the technical arm of our most strategic partnerships—rapidly building bespoke solutions that drive customer value, unblock deployments, and shape our core product. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, product, and GTM—embedding deeply with customers to understand their needs and shipping solutions that make our software indispensable. This is not a roadmap-bound role. You’ll move fast, own messy business problems, and deliver value in days—not quarters.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with enterprise clients to build custom integrations and solutions tailored to their workflows.
- Scope, design, debug, deploy, and iterate on high-impact prototypes and integrations.
- Lead technical conversations—translating business needs into architecture, scoping use cases, and defining deployment patterns.
- Address security and compliance questions, escalating complex issues when needed.
- Maintain and enrich documentation: guides, FAQs, internal tools, and best practices.
- Capture and advocate for customer feedback—feeding it directly into product planning and GTM strategy.
Ideal Background
- Experience: 3–7 years in solutions engineering, presales engineering, forward-deployed engineering, or similar technical customer-facing roles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar scripting languages; experience building prototypes, APIs, integrations, or LLM-based solutions; background in enterprise SaaS deployments with understanding of enterprise architectures.
- Soft Skills: Proven ability to thrive in ambiguity and deliver results quickly (MVP thinking over perfection); strong communication and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences; customer-first mindset with empathy, ownership, and the ability to speak "business and code".
- Nice to Have: Startup or early-stage experience; experience in regulated industries or AI/ML domains; pre-sales or consultative customer engagement background.
Travel/Location
Strict in-office collaboration with top clients is required. Candidates should be based in New York City or San Francisco and be willing to travel to client locations 25–50% of the time.
