Sr. Azure Cloud Architect – Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced Sr Azure Cloud Architect for a 12+ month hybrid contract role based in Washington, DC . This position is open to candidates located in VA, DC, or PA only and requires a combination of strategic planning , hands-on architecture , and team leadership . The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of IT experience , a proven track record in designing and maintaining Azure cloud infrastructure, and deep expertise in network architecture , scripting , and compliance standards like DISA STIGs. This is a senior leadership position that bridges technical design with operational excellence in a secure, government-regulated environment. Sr. Azure Cloud Architect – Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support Azure Managed Services Operations including Active Directory, Azure SQL, App Services, and Storage

Manage cloud network architecture , including LAN, WAN, VPNs, load balancers, and NSGs

Maintain and enhance cloud infrastructure with a focus on high availability, performance, and scalability

Lead automation initiatives using PowerShell, ARM templates , and Azure Desired State Configuration (DSC)

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks , particularly DISA STIGs

Monitor and manage Azure Update Management, Patching, and Backup (ASR) solutions

Oversee configuration and performance of Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) environments

Evaluate commercial and government off-the-shelf solutions (COTS/GOTS) and recommend improvements

Support application packaging, software deployment, and migration activities

Direct and support teams of engineers, analysts, and technicians for complex deployments

Collaborate with organizational leadership and stakeholders to align cloud solutions with business objectives

Sr. Azure Cloud Architect – Required Skills and Experience 15+ years of IT infrastructure experience , with a minimum of 10 years in network design and cloud architecture

Proven experience with Azure cloud operations , resource provisioning, backup, monitoring, and site recovery

Strong background in LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN architectures

Expertise in scripting using PowerShell , building ARM templates , and managing Azure Automation/DSC

Experience maintaining VMs or containers , and designing cloud-native solutions

Familiarity with Azure load balancing , DNS, virtual networking, NSG, and firewalls

Understanding of cloud security and applying DISA STIGs to harden environments

Azure or VMware Workspace/Horizon certification in a specialized area (must have)

Strong documentation, leadership, and communication skills

Experience working in agile and ITIL-based environments

Sr. Azure Cloud Architect – Preferred Qualifications Experience with deployment tools like Kaseya or SCCM

Experience with Application Packaging and App-V

Familiarity with cloud migration tools and methodologies

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT , or a related field

Experience developing analytics supporting cybersecurity decision-making
