Nationwide Trial Division is a national team with approximately 40 offices across the U.S. Our Senior Trial Attorneys are seasoned litigators with significant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation. You will represent clients under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies independently as lead counsel, managing a diverse caseload with varying complexity and product lines, across all courts and agencies in your jurisdiction. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate trial advocacy skills independently as lead counsel or as part of a team, ensuring efficiency, proactive case management, and high-quality work in line with Nationwide standards and client expectations. Require minimal oversight, working effectively under guidance from senior attorneys and leadership. Utilize technology effectively and collaborate with support staff for efficient case management. Stay updated on legal, technological, and procedural changes impacting liability and recovery litigation. Develop expertise in all NTD concentrations and adapt to new ones as needed. Provide sound legal and factual opinions on case valuations, updating clients and claims promptly. Build and maintain professional relationships within the legal, insurance, and claims communities. Enhance NTD’s reputation and case referral opportunities through effective networking. Communicate proactively and effectively with clients, claims, and internal teams. Mentor junior attorneys and staff, fostering engagement, coaching, and collaboration. Qualifications Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Active license in the state of employment. Over eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation. Strong litigation, negotiation, analytical, and legal skills; proficient in technology and legal procedures. Excellent time management, organization, and decision-making abilities. Leadership skills for motivating and influencing colleagues and partners. Additional Details Regularly demonstrates Nationwide values; works in a generally office-based environment with travel as needed; extended hours may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a background and credit check.
