Upbound is the company behind Crossplane, the open source project that initiated the control plane revolution in the cloud native community. Upbound helps companies manage their infrastructure with our Crossplane-powered Universal Cloud Platform, providing real-time visibility, API-centric management similar to Kubernetes, and self-service capabilities. As a Staff Solutions Architect at Upbound, you'll play a vital role in our go-to-market team, focusing on post-sales implementation and adoption of our products. Your deep technical expertise in cloud native solutions based on Kubernetes will significantly impact the deployment and adoption of Upbound's solutions. You will build rapport with customers to ensure smooth delivery and adoption. In this role, you will : Partner with the pre-sales team to ensure smooth post-sales implementation. Understand customer environments, identify needs, and design architecture and solutions. Ensure successful adoption of Upbound and Crossplane in customer environments. Perform technical discovery, scope customer engagements, and contribute to Statements of Work. Work directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during deployment. Improve deployments by writing code, fixing bugs, and building features within Upbound products and the Crossplane ecosystem. Build and maintain cloud native reference platforms to accelerate adoption (e.g., https://github.com/upbound/platform-ref-aws ). Collaborate across departments to solve complex scenarios and integration issues. Represent Upbound as the technical voice to customers and internal teams to influence product development. Act as a trusted technical advisor, presenting ongoing solutions as the product suite evolves. You are a good fit if you have : Experience writing code interfacing with Kubernetes API (operators, controllers, add-ons). Managed production Kubernetes deployments or workloads. Background in platform engineering/SRE, especially building internal developer portals. Deep understanding of scalable, reliable services across major cloud providers. Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and business teams. Experience troubleshooting complex issues with customers or open source communities. Experience deploying CNCF projects and integrating modern operational tools like Terraform, CI/CD, IaC, and GitOps. Proficiency in a modern programming language (Go preferred). Ability to work with diverse teams and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Enthusiasm for defining and scaling critical engineering and customer solutions. It is a plus if : You have Crossplane experience. You are involved in or have contributed to the upstream Kubernetes community. You have spoken at tech conferences, written articles, or contributed to open source projects. You have startup experience and are familiar with remote team dynamics.
