Overview
Lyft is looking for a skilled and motivated Tax Manager to join our Tax Team. You will report to the Senior Tax Manager and work with cross-functional teams to surface tax issues, solve problems, and recommend solutions while performing key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Partner with cross functional groups within the company to understand the tax impact of new product/market launches and ensure tax needs are identified, considered, and communicated
Ensure new products are accurately characterized and implemented within Lyft’s sales tax engine and are producing accurate taxability results
Perform research and provide analysis on a variety of sales and use tax inquiries to operationalize Lyft’s products and minimize tax risks
Build relationships with third-party service providers, Lyft’s finance and accounting teams, product teams, engineering teams, and internal legal counsel to ensure tax requirements are met
Maintain Lyft’s ASC 450 positions and reserves, including the documentation and calculations
Adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines, analyze and solve problems, work under your own initiative
Stay abreast of tax law changes that impact Lyft’s business
Manage and lead audit defense for gross receipts tax, sales & use tax, and other indirect taxes
Experience
7+ years of US indirect tax experience
Proven experience in US indirect tax technical background with a detailed understanding of the application of sales tax principles to technology businesses
Demonstrated ability to cultivate cross-functional relationships and communicate complex tax topics to all levels
Project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to balance individual ownership with collaboration and partnership
Strong working knowledge of ASC 450
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate tax topics to non-tax partners
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation
Combined Big 4 or law firm and technology industry experience
Accounting system experience (Oracle or similar ERP)

Work arrangement : Lyft values in-office collaboration. This role is in-office on a hybrid schedule—team members are expected to work in the office 3 days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). Hybrid roles have flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
Compensation : The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $132,000-$165,000. Salary ranges depend on qualifications, experience, and location and are not inclusive of equity, bonus, or benefits. Your recruiter will share more details during the hiring process.
