Job Overview Tax Senior Managers ensure the delivery of high-quality tax services. They work closely with a team of tax professionals and client advocates to manage relationships, deliver complex tax planning and compliance, and foster the growth of our tax practice. The ideal candidate is a CPA with over 10 years of experience in tax, proven leadership in large teams, and strong expertise in tax law and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management:
Act as the primary contact for key clients on complex issues, managing tax planning, compliance, and consulting engagements.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through strategic advice, identifying tax-saving opportunities, and addressing concerns.
Ensure client satisfaction with timely, accurate, and proactive tax solutions tailored to individual needs.
Tax Compliance & Planning:
Lead the preparation and review of complex tax returns for various entities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
Provide advanced tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize positions.
Stay updated on tax legislation changes and advise clients accordingly.
Practice Development:
Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
Lead and mentor tax professionals, supporting their professional growth.
Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate training.
Monitor and manage tax risks, ensuring ethical standards are upheld.
Requirements
CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
Over 10 years of experience in public accounting or tax, focusing on compliance, planning, and advisory services.
Proven leadership in managing professionals.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including complex returns.
Excellent communication and client management skills.
Leadership abilities, including mentoring staff.
Proficiency in tax software (e.g., UltraTax, Axcess Tax, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills
Master's degree in Business Administration, Taxation, or related field.
Business development and networking skills.
Experience with project management tools.
Working Conditions
Office-based in Santa Cruz with potential for remote work based on policies.
Extended hours during tax season and deadlines.
Occasional travel for meetings or events.
