Your role and responsibilities
IBM is seeking a Data and AI Brand Technical Specialist (BTS) to support technical sales within IBM’s Industry Market. In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative, client-facing team that helps organizations use data and AI to improve operations, make smarter decisions, and grow their businesses.
You’ll receive training and mentorship to build your technical and professional skills, while working on meaningful projects that prepare you for a long-term career in technology.
List of responsibilities:
Understand and articulate client business and technical requirements, aligning them with IBM’s Data and AI capabilities.
Lead technical sales engagements, including demos, Proofs of Concept (POC), and Proofs of Technology (POT).
Design and present integrated solutions that include IBM’s Data and AI technologies.
Collaborate with IBM teams to co-create solutions and transfer technical knowledge.
Act as a trusted advisor by building long-term relationships based on credibility, empathy, and consistent delivery.
Support critical client situations with technical leadership and problem-solving.
Contribute to territory development through strategic planning and execution of go-to-market initiatives.
On-site presence required three days per week, either at the client location or IBM office.
Required technical and professional expertise
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
A strong interest in data, artificial intelligence, and solving real-world problems with technology.
Exposure to data tools, programming languages (such as Python or SQL), or cloud platforms through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Willingness to learn quickly, take initiative, and collaborate with others in a team environment.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Excellent interpersonal communication skills—able to build rapport, listen actively, and engage confidently with clients and team members.
Experience giving presentations or leading discussions in academic, internship, or project settings.
Familiarity with data-related concepts such as data governance, data quality, or data visualization.
Exposure to AI or machine learning concepts through coursework, certifications, or hands-on projects.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
