Role: Treasurer – Board of Directors (Volunteer Role)
Organization: Caregiver OneCall
Location: Bay Area, California (meetings remote, and in-person events)
Caregiver OneCall is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ensuring no caregiver ever feels alone at 2 AM. We provide a free 24/7 emotional support hotline, training, and resources for family caregivers nationwide. Our mission is rooted in compassion, advocacy, and equity for caregivers of all backgrounds.
Role Overview
The Treasurer serves as a key member of the Board of Directors, providing financial oversight and guidance to ensure the organization’s sustainability and compliance. This role is critical to strengthening our governance and supporting our mission to uplift caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the board.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, including IRS Form 990 filings.
- Chair or co-chair the Finance Committee and support annual budget development.
- Partner with the Board Chair and Executive Director to ensure strong fiscal policies and procedures.
- Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial reserves.
- Provide guidance on financial implications of strategic plans and fundraising efforts.
- Ensure proper record keeping, reporting, and annual audit/financial review processes.
- Actively support fundraising, including making a personally meaningful contribution each year and leveraging networks to bring in additional resources.
Qualifications
- Professional experience in accounting, finance, or related field (nonprofit finance background strongly preferred).
- familiarity with nonprofit financial management, reporting, and compliance.
- Ability to translate financial information for board members with non-finance backgrounds.
- Strong integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to transparency.
- Willingness to participate in fundraising, donor cultivation, and ambassador activities.
Term & Commitment
Estimated time commitment: 12-15 hours per month, including preparation and meeting participation.
