Job Description Our team of Large Account Primary Casualty Underwriters are high-level individual contributors responsible for the overall management, business development, growth, and profitability of a book of Large Account Casualty business spanning various industry segments and revenue bands (Manufacturing, Distributors, Education, Real Estate, Technology, Wholesale, Retail, Service). This role emphasizes new business production of risk management primary casualty accounts, focusing on underwriting performance, exposure-based pricing, and building strong producer and customer relationships.
This position can be located in any of the following offices: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego, Denver, Scottsdale, or Seattle.

Position Summary As the Underwriting Consulting Director, you will need loss sensitive experience within the large account casualty space. You will use technical, sales, and analytical skills to provide insurance solutions that help CNA’s customers manage risk. With a thorough understanding of CNA’s strategies and appetites, you will utilize internal and external data to make appropriate individual and portfolio risk decisions. You will also be responsible for the profitable growth of an assigned book of business, adhering to underwriting policies, rating rules, and relevant laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Underwriting Expertise: Review applications, understand pricing components, use predictive modeling tools, analyze coverage and limits, and ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines.
Portfolio Management: Manage assigned portfolio to meet premium, profitability, and growth goals; identify cross-sell opportunities; demonstrate knowledge of CNA’s products and appetite.
Sales & Distribution Management: Build and maintain sales practices, develop producer relationships, implement distributor plans, and proactively identify cross-sell opportunities.

Reporting Relationship Manager or above
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with professional designations preferred.
Typically, a minimum of eight years of underwriting experience.
This role may be titled as Underwriting Specialist, Consultant, or Director, depending on experience and qualifications. Salary range varies by location and experience.
