The Vice President of Enterprise Architecture is a strategic thought leader and trusted partner to technology and business executives across MongoDB. This role defines and drives the enterprise-wide architecture strategy, ensures technology investments are aligned to business outcomes, enables agility, and unlocks innovation through scalable, modern platforms. You will establish a future-ready architectural vision that supports MongoDB’s growth, accelerates the adoption of AI and automation, and simplifies the technology landscape across the enterprise. You will define an AI strategy for the enterprise aligned to business objectives for AI in each function. You will lead a lean, global team of enterprise, domain, and solution architects responsible for defining blueprints, setting architectural guardrails, and partnering with product and engineering teams to deliver value at scale. You are guided by business outcomes and known for your ability to influence across organizational boundaries. This role can be based out of our Palo Alto or San Francisco offices. Responsibilities Develop and communicate a compelling enterprise architecture vision aligned to MongoDB’s long-term business strategy and technology roadmap Reduce tech sprawl — Define architecture principles and standards that guide solution design, data integration, cloud infrastructure, security, and application development Partner with leadership across IT, engineering, and business functions to drive architectural alignment, eliminate tech debt, and improve interoperability across systems Enable the enterprise to be “AI-ready” by championing modern data, integration, and automation architecture foundations that power GenAI, analytics, and decision intelligence Establish strong architecture governance to ensure systems are designed for scale, security, and resilience, while reducing redundancy and fragmentation Lead modernization initiatives to rationalize legacy platforms and promote reusable, composable architecture patterns (e.g., APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture) Provide architectural leadership in build vs. buy decisions, balancing time-to-value with long-term scalability and cost Build and develop a world-class team of enterprise and domain architects; create a strong community of practice to share learnings and best practices Champion business architecture thinking to ensure technology decisions are grounded in business capabilities and customer outcomes Track emerging technologies and bring outside-in perspective to influence MongoDB’s future enterprise architecture direction Qualifications 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, technology strategy, or solution design leadership roles in high-growth, global environments 10+ years leading architecture at fast paced, high growth companies Proven experience designing and scaling modern cloud-native architectures (e.g., SaaS, APIs, microservices, data mesh) Strong understanding of enterprise platforms (ERP, CRM, CPQ, Data & Analytics, AI/ML, Integration, Identity & Access, Security) Demonstrated ability to partner with executive stakeholders and drive architecture alignment across business and technology domains Experience driving enterprise-wide transformations including modernization, cloud migration, data strategy, and AI enablement Excellent communicator and influencer, capable of translating complex technical topics into clear business impacts for diverse audiences Strategic mindset with a pragmatic bias for action; able to balance long-term vision with near-term execution Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required Success measures In 90 days: Build trust across business and technology leadership, assess the current architectural landscape, and identify high-priority opportunities to improve alignment and reduce complexity In 6 months: Roll out foundational architecture principles and governance, deliver early wins in simplifying key areas, and gain alignment on the 18–24 month enterprise architecture roadmap with tangible benefits in controlling tech and AI sprawl In 12 months: Build a high-performing architecture team, drive adoption of scalable, AI-ready architecture patterns, and position MongoDB for continued growth through a unified, future-ready technology foundation MongoDB is committed to providing accommodations for individuals with disabilities during the application and interview process. Req ID: 2263184857 Salary: MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is $189,000—$371,000 USD . Compensation is based on skill, experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits may include: equity, employee stock purchase program, flexible PTO, 20 weeks fully-paid parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k), mental health resources, transgender-inclusive health coverage, and health benefits. This range is applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
