We're seeking a future team member for the role of VICE PRESIDENT, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS to support our Global Government and Regulatory Affairs (GGRA) team in advancing the bank's thought leadership program. This role is open to candidates in Washington, DC, New York City, Pittsburgh, with 4 days in-office.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and effective analyst, writer, and communicator who operates at the intersection of financial services, public policy, and geopolitics. Your experience in synthesizing complex topics and translating subject matter insights into clear, accessible content for internal and external audiences will be essential. Prior work experience at think tanks, news outlets, or consulting firms is highly valued.
In this role, you will collaborate with GGRA, BNY's lines of business, and Marketing and Communications colleagues to support our thought leadership initiatives, positioning BNY as a resource with unique insights supporting clients, policymakers, policy influencers, and other stakeholders. You will establish yourself as an effective project manager capable of executing multiple workstreams and serving as a key partner across the bank.
Key responsibilities include:
- Create clear, client-focused content aligned with BNY's business objectives for various global settings.
- Translate complex financial, technological, and industry topics into accessible content for diverse audiences, leveraging strong analytical and writing skills.
- Review and analyze emerging geopolitical, policy, and regulatory developments in partnership with SMEs to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Support the publication of newsletters tracking global political and policy developments relevant to the bank and clients.
- Continuously adapt content strategies based on feedback and evolving client needs.
Qualifications for success:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; master's preferred.
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience preferred.
- Experience at think tanks, news outlets, or consulting firms is highly valued.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex topics into suitable content.
- Strong attention to detail for accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
- Quickly digest large amounts of information to identify key points.
- Knowledge of financial markets, geopolitical trends, and policy processes related to banking and financial services.
- Collaborative work across teams and regions.
- Creative problem-solving skills.

The starting salary range for this position is $83,000 to $175,000 annually, determined based on experience and location. The total compensation may include bonuses, incentives, and other benefits.
