Overview

VP, IT — Americares is seeking a bold, visionary VP of IT to transform technology into a strategic enabler of global health impact. The successful candidate will build and execute the organization's technology strategy, while leading a team of IT professionals across IT infrastructure and operations. The VP of IT will ensure technology investments align with organizational strategic goals and help technology become a business driver across all functions and geographies.

Responsibilities

  1. Define and implement a long-term global technology strategy that aligns with Americares’ strategic objectives, brings all global teams into alignment across platforms, and ensures near-term roadmap activities lead toward the long-term direction.
  2. Work with IT leadership to identify, develop and socialize comprehensive IT policies and SOPs, and communicate them across diverse audiences through thorough change management strategies.
  3. Oversee the management of Americares enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business development plans and the production of clean, reliable data.
  4. Oversee IT infrastructure management, including networks, hardware, software, cloud systems, and data centers, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability of IT systems.
  5. Manage stakeholder engagement by acting as a key partner and advisor to senior executives and team leads, prioritizing technological needs across programs, functions, and locations, and incorporating these into IT plans.
  6. Lead a high-performing IT team of 15+ at Headquarters focused on continuous improvement, prioritization of initiatives, operational efficiency, innovation, and global inclusion; foster collaboration with IT leads across country offices.
  7. Partner on continuous cybersecurity and risk management efforts, including securing data and digital assets, maintaining strong cybersecurity policies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  8. Oversee data strategy and governance to ensure data is leveraged in organizational decision-making.
  9. Develop organizational thought leadership by identifying competency and skill-building needs and implementing training to increase utilization of efficient, effective solutions.
  10. Build, plan, and lead innovation initiatives, including AI, machine learning, and automation to improve processes and team member experience, and develop holistic plans for integrating platforms.
  11. Develop and manage the annual IT budget in partnership with team leaders, ensuring effective resource allocation for operations, projects, and infrastructure upgrades, and recommending new technologies.
  12. Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors and service providers to ensure adequate technical capacity to support work.
  13. Collaborate with the Senior Director, Project Management Office to sequence the project roadmap and ensure technical capacity supports work.
  14. Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission; engage in team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Degrees and / or experience required for the role :

  • Progressive experience in IT leadership roles within a mission-driven, global nonprofit organization, overseeing global technology strategy, including enterprise architecture, IT infrastructure, digital transformation, and cybersecurity and risk management.
  • Progressive team management experience with 10+ direct reports and senior-level leaders who have their own reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ITIL) and overseeing DevOps lifecycles.

  4. Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and enterprise systems (ERP, CRM).
  5. Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, decision making, and judgement.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence decisions at all levels and communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders.
  7. Ability to foster inclusive, cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to programs and processes that enable fairness and belonging for team members.

Usual requirements :

  • US work authorization required. Candidates must reside in and plan to remain in one of the following states/territories: CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, Puerto Rico, TN, TX, VA, or WA.

Desirable but not required :

  • Fluency in languages spoken in core locations (e.g., India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia) in addition to English.
  • Experience in humanitarian aid or development organizations.
