The Position Americares is seeking a bold, visionary VP of IT to transform technology into a strategic enabler of global health impact. The successful candidate will build and execute the organization's technology strategy, while leading a talented team of IT professionals working across IT infrastructure and operations. The VP of IT will be responsible for ensuring Americares technology investments align with organizational strategic goals and build towards a future where technology is a business driver across all functional and geographic parts of the organization. Key Outcomes In the first 90 days, the VP will: Learn and live the Americares values. Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings. Demonstrate an understanding of Americares programmatic work and business models. Review IT team job descriptions, processes, policies, vendor agreements, and other related team documents. Develop a deep understanding of Americares Enterprise Applications and IT Infrastructure. Meet with key stakeholders across departments and locations to understand their operational and programmatic priorities, as well as their current tech stacks, challenges, and needs. In the first 6 months, the VP will: Solidify long-term global technology strategy and road map that aligns with Americares strategic objectives over the next 5 years. Socialize and garner necessary buy-in and support for road map across the organization. Developed and socialized current and new IT policies and SOPs. Identify and plan for necessary resources for road map in FY27. In the first year, the VP will: Make significant progress on the initial phases of implementation of the road map. Achieve significant organization-wide understanding and adoption of IT policies and SOPs through socialization and change management. Develop, implement, and monitor at least 2 projects focused on innovation and/or utilization of current organizational technologies. Demonstrate improvement in staff feedback about systems satisfaction and efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities Define and implement a long-term global technology strategy that aligns with and builds upon Americares strategic objectives, brings all global teams into alignment across platforms and ensures near-term roadmap and activities lead in desired long-term direction. Work with IT leadership to identify, develop and socialize comprehensive IT policies and SOPs and with organizational leaders to communicate and ensure understanding across diverse audiences through thorough change management strategies. Oversee the management of the Americares enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring it aligns with business development plans, and produces clean, reliable data. Oversee the management of the Americares IT infrastructure, including networks, hardware, software, cloud systems, and data centers, and ensure scalability, performance and reliability of IT systems. Manage stakeholder engagement and expectations by acting as a key partner and advisor to senior executives and team leads and by understanding and prioritizing technological needs across programs, functions, and locations and incorporating these into new IT team plans. Lead a high performing IT team of 15+ at Headquarters focused on continuous improvement by providing guidance on prioritization of IT initiatives that will improve operational efficiency, innovation, and global inclusion and ensure team success in meeting objectives while also supporting their professional growth. Build and grow relationships and collaboration with IT leads across Country Office locations. Partner with IT leadership on continuous cybersecurity and risk management efforts, including securing Americares data and digital assets, maintaining strong cybersecurity policies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Oversee data strategy and data governance, working to ensure data is leveraged in decision-making across the organization. Develop organizational thought leadership, including by identifying competency and skill-building needs across the organization and implementing relevant training and interventions to increase utilization of efficiency creating solutions. Build, plan, and lead innovation initiatives, including emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and automation to improve business processes and team member experience and developing holistic plans for integrating existing and new platforms across the organization. Develop and manage the annual IT budget in partnership with team leaders, ensuring the effective allocation of resources for ongoing operations, projects, and infrastructure upgrades and recommendation of new technologies. Manage relationships with third party technology vendors and service providers, ensuring technical capacity to support work. Work closely with the Senior Director, Project Management office to sequence project roadmap, ensuring technical capacity to support work. Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission. Engage in and contribute to team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Degrees and/or experience required Progressive experience in IT leadership roles in a mission driven, global nonprofit organization, overseeing global technology strategy, including enterprise architecture, IT infrastructure, digital transformation, and cybersecurity and risk management. Progressive team management of teams of 10+ and experience managing senior level direct reports who have their own direct reports. Demonstrated experience with IT governance frameworks (ie Cobit, ITIL) and overseeing DevOps lifecycles. Competencies Ability to develop, socialize, implement, and build upon organizational technology strategies and roadmaps. Ability to lead successful change management initiatives across teams, geographies, and technology levels. Demonstrated understanding of and fluency in IT systems, infrastructure, enterprise software solutions and cybersecurity and risk management. Knowledge of cloud platforms (ie. AWS, Azure) and enterprise systems (ERP, CRM). Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, decision making, and judgement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence decisions at all levels of the organization and communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders. Ability to foster inclusive, cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration. Demonstrated commitment to programs and processes that enable fairness for all and further belonging for team members. US work authorization is required for this role.
