Overview API is seeking a seasoned professional to join our company in the role of an Account Director. The Account Director is the client’s main point of contact and will actively manage existing client relationships with our Airline, Cruise Line and Hotel partners, focusing on the best interests of our clients and API at all times. This is a hybrid position (3 days in office / 2 days remote) located at our Corporate HQ in Melville, NY.
Responsibilities
Oversee the direction of existing API accounts with the goal of maximizing prevailing relationships to expand market/wallet share versus pre-assigned revenue quota. Work closely with the Research & Sourcing teams to provide all details of a destination for a seamless sourcing approach.
Assist with the sourcing of destinations by initiating the RFP process and maintaining positive supplier relationships.
Ensure RFP results are documented in the customer destination presentation with accuracy and detail, meeting client needs, demonstrating savings, and achieving API revenue goals.
Strategic planning and organization to maximize API revenue and client savings goals, including sourcing timelines for expiring contracts and contract renewals.
Conduct hotel site inspections domestically and internationally when required with customers to ensure properties meet client criteria.
Execute hotel contract negotiations on behalf of the Airline, manage contract renewals and addendums, and negotiate mutually beneficial terms.
Monitor market conditions to ensure the best rates and terms are maintained throughout hotel contracts.
Proactively manage risks to contracts and negotiate terms that positively impact the client.
Maintain strong hotel relationships where the client has contracted and pursue opportunities to add value.
Collaborate with the sales team to ensure client needs are met and share leads uncovered through hotel and airline communications.
Manage crew member feedback via the online portal, address complaints promptly, and maintain accurate records with hotel partners.
Add new hotels to the system, ensure information accuracy, and remove inactive hotels.
Ensure negotiated rates are loaded and maintained on HotelExpress for crew, business, and leisure travel clients.
Verify hotel contract information is loaded properly into ACES for OPS and Accounting, review schedules, and assist with follow-up as needed.
Ensure all revenue opportunities are captured in the CRM with accurate start dates; maintain contracts and flight information; understand the client’s business and deliverables; propose value-aligned recommendations; support smooth transitions from contract signing to implementation.
Communicate with cross-functional teams about client performance, strategies, and needs; lead decisions balancing client and API interests; manage weekly and business review communications; gain proficiency with API technology platforms.
Qualifications
Established (at least 5 years) experience in the travel industry and working closely with hotels is a must.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales and marketing or related field.
Ability to manage a fast-paced workload with judgment to plan and accomplish goals; strong attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to positively present API in customer-facing situations.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
Excellent customer/client service skills and ability to work with diverse cultures.
Organized self-starter who can work proactively and independently; ability to multi-task under strict deadlines.

Position Type: Full-time
Hours: Core business hours Mon-Fri 9-5; occasional evening/weekend work; travel up to 25% as needed.
