Overview Housing and Food Services (HFS) has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director, Financial Planning & Analysis to join their team. HFS supports over 10,000 student residents and operates 40+ dining locations on campus. The Purpose of this role: The Assistant Director plays a critical role supporting the financial planning and budgeting functions within HFS. This position provides leadership to the Financial Planning & Analysis team and informs HFS leadership on financial strategy and decision making. Reporting to the CFO, this role partners closely to provide insights that drive business decisions and long-term financial health.
Responsibilities Budgeting/Planning Development Leads the development and management of the annual operating budgets for housing, residential food, retail food and administration.
Oversees the development and maintenance of the long-range financial plan for the Housing and Dining System.
Reviews and monitors capital expenditure budgets.
Participates in presentations to student groups on proposed budgets and rate increases.
Prescribes methods and procedures to be followed in financial planning and budgeting.
Develops and manages annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
Analysis and Reporting Collaborates with the CFO to develop and provide data for leadership decision-making and ensure compliance with budgetary and bond covenant requirements; monitors compliance with the Housing and Dining system bond resolutions.
Observes performance and financial results of operating units and recommends improvements.
Conducts specialized projects and studies, including research, analyses, report writing and presentations.
Leads others in financial studies, analyses and report preparation.
Analyzes reports prepared by others and evaluates their impact on the Department.
Oversees and participates in the development of analytical models.
Builds and maintains complex financial models to support strategic initiatives.
Monitors actual performance against forecasts and explains variances.
Conducts scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate business risks and opportunities.
Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports and dashboards for senior leadership.
Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and provides actionable insights.
Collaboration Collaborates with business units to align financial goals with operational strategies.
Works in support of accounting, operations, and executive teams.
Team Leadership Supervises and mentors the FP&A team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Fosters a culture of continuous learning and data-driven decision-making.
Other Leverages technology and tools (e.g., ERP systems, BI tools) for automation and insights.
Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance forecasting accuracy and efficiency.
Participates in or conducts special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as required to support departmental goals and values.
Position Details Scope of HFS financial activities and the evolving financial environment.
Ensures accurate financial reporting that informs high impact decisions related to HFS’ long-range financial plan.
Working conditions include regular office hours with up to two days remote work; attendance may be required for special events.
Supervision: Up to 3 FTE of Financial Analysts.
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or equivalent and five years of experience in financial planning and analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent administrative, financial, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to assimilate regulations, rules, policies and laws; experience working with cross-functional teams as a leader and a member.
Innovative thinking in planning strategies; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Commitment to continuous improvement of business operations; excellent communication and presentation skills.
Experience developing and using financial models; proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and BI tools.
Experience leading or mentoring a team.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where legal requirements apply. Desired
Desired Master’s degree in business administration, economics or equivalent.
Certifications in Public Accounting (CPA), Financial Planning, or related fields.
Experience using budget and financial systems (e.g., Workday, Questica, and Adaptive).

Compensation: Pay Range Minimum $120,672.00 annually; Pay Range Maximum $120,672.00 annually.
