Primary Purpose A qualified attorney with experience in large projects, including project management, engineering, procurement and construction support. Responsibilities Provide representation and counsel, internal and external, regarding complex commercial legal assignments related to regulated electric and gas projects to negotiate complex construction projects for transmission and distribution assets, including contracting on an EPC (traditional and progressive) / GMP model. Under minimal supervision, plan, conduct and supervise complex legal assignments; evaluate matters with potential major business impact; advise clients on legal and business risks. Review and draft legal documents; collaborate with internal legal and other departments to ensure timely and compliant project completion. Advise internal clients during all phases of project contracting. Interpret and apply internal policies consistent with the law. Prepare budgets and oversee outside counsel management. Provide project leadership direction to other department attorneys and support staff. Perform additional projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications LLB or JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the relevant jurisdictions. 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience. Experience in construction contracting including EPC/GMP models. Excellent analytical abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyze legal and legislative materials, work under time deadlines, and provide direct counsel to business clients. Preferred Qualifications Experience with a regulated company or industry. Strong understanding of the electric and/or gas utility business. Experience with construction of large public projects.
