About this Role The Assistant General Counsel, Corporate & Compliance position at Social Finance is a pivotal role reporting directly to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. This role involves overseeing compliance programs, corporate governance, and contract management while acting as a trusted advisor to internal teams and leadership. It demands a blend of attention to detail and creativity to navigate evolving legal landscapes. The successful candidate will manage nonprofit governance, ensure regulatory compliance, and support contracts with government entities. They will also collaborate with the Legal team on investment fund operations and other organizational matters. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization aiming to create measurable social impact. Responsibilities Oversee corporate governance and entity management for nonprofit parent and 20+ subsidiaries and affiliates. Independently manage the organization’s RIA compliance program and build a culture of compliance. Review and negotiate a variety of contracts including grants, advisory agreements, and vendor agreements. Support the organization’s Public Sector team with contracts for outcomes-based financing projects. Oversee data security and organizational policies; ensure adherence to internal policies and controls. Contribute to a positive compliance culture by maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Collaborate on fund and investment work with opportunities for selective exposure and growth. Requirements J.D.; license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction. Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, with a preference for backgrounds in regulatory compliance, nonprofit governance, or corporate law. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts. Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining cross-sector relationships. Commitment to excellence and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated interest in nonprofit management or impact investing.
