Overview

KPMG is currently seeking an Associate Director, Scrum Master / Release Manager to join our Digital Nexus technology organization. This is a hybrid work opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Help grow a collaborative and continuously improving engineering culture; teach and serve as an example to the team of Scrum and agile values and principles; coach and give feedback to individuals (including senior leadership) and teams; facilitate Scrum Events as a Scrum Master or Release Train Engineer, and take ownership for feature release coordination of KPMG Emerging Technology products
  • Deliver effective conflict resolution between individuals and teams with an assertive but friendly attitude with excellent interpersonal skills; provide effective methods and practices for managing and resolving impediments
  • Act as an expert in estimation and planning techniques; explain and teach release planning in an empirical environment; clarify the differences between various Scrum Scaling frameworks and approaches
  • Advocate for modern agile software development and organizational practices, such as XP, CI/CD, DevOps, TDD, and more; automate flow of Project Status and facilitate continuous and real-time transparency for effective communication, support and decision making
  • Assist with coaching and training both individuals, teams, and programs to clarify goals, break anti-patterns and put plans in place to achieve stronger results; utilize different agile techniques to improve the efficiency of the development team
  • Provide scaling expertise to align multiple agile teams, collaborate and facilitate planning with large groups, coach product owners on managing scaled product backlog of epics and features, and facilitate decision making with product owners and architects; mentor and support a product owner in effective techniques for backlog creation, management, and refinement; demonstrate effective techniques for managing team interruptions, and for protecting the team in a sprint; work beyond team boundaries to improve efficiencies, flow of work, and value delivered

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight years of recent experience and expertise in multiple agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFe, Lean, and more) with the ability and flexibility to adapt approach to fit team and product environment
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; relevant practitioner level certifications (PSM II / CSP) are preferred
  • Deep expertise in helping teams build and develop trust, safety, and effective communication
  • Proven track record at facilitating, coaching, and mentoring teams and leaders in agility and towards rapidly delivering high impact, high quality software in a sustainable fashion
  • Experience with full Software development life cycle and advocating for modern agile software development and organizational practices as well as collaborating with non-agile teams; technical experience developing software, portfolio level planning, and/or business experience is preferred; experience with agile tools and scaling them across multiple teams is a plus
  • Excellent visualization skills with ability to explain and create visual radiators; demonstrated deep system level thinking and proven ability to impact whole program dynamics
  • Strong verbal/written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority; ability to prioritize, delegate and foster the development of high performance teams to lead/support an environment driven by customer service and teamwork; strong trouble-shooting and organizational skills and capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously; ability to participate in resource planning processes based on defined organizational plans
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future

Location: Stamford, CT

Salary range: $181,500 - $242,000 (as advertised; salary ranges may vary by city).
