This position is responsible for providing legal advice, support, and coordination on complex legal matters or projects; representing the company in detailed or difficult litigation and administrative proceedings; providing legal support to divisional management on specific business issues; representing the company in dealings with applicable regulatory bodies and government agencies; and providing guidance to less experienced attorneys as required. Additionally, this role offers an opportunity for a motivated lawyer to advise on complex contracting, including vendor, provider network, producer/customer, and strategic sourcing contracts. The ideal candidate will operate in a highly complex and evolving legal and technological environment, providing sound, actionable legal advice on regulatory, business, and operational matters. They will serve as a partner to business leaders in developing adaptive strategies to support and grow HCSC’s established business while advancing its mission. HCSC is the largest customer-owned health insurer in the United States, operating Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Additional responsibilities include: Providing legal support on moderately complex projects related to corporate contracts. Supporting routine day-to-day business matters with a reasonable degree of independence. Applying strong negotiation skills. Proactively working with business and legal partners to identify and mitigate regulatory, legal, and business risks. Managing competing deadlines with sound judgment. Guiding legal support staff when assigned. Collaborating with legal colleagues to identify cross-functional legal issues. Communicating effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and stakeholders. Demonstrating willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Complying with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Compliance Programs, and other policies. Maintaining confidentiality of business information. The role can be based in Chicago, Illinois; Richardson, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Helena, Montana; or Nashville, Tennessee. It is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 3 days a week. Sponsorship is not available. Job Requirements: Juris Doctor Degree and active law license in the relevant state. At least 8 years of legal experience, preferably in healthcare or insurance law. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong negotiation and diplomacy skills. Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years recent experience in healthcare or insurance law. #LI-AZ1 #LI-HYBRID Compensation: $143,800.00 - $267,100.00, commensurate with skills and experience.
