This position will serve as a lawyer reporting to the senior managing general counsel in the transactional and regulatory legal practice group. You will work with business partners in the Grid Operations, Transmission, and Regional Markets groups to further key business strategies and projects. You will provide counsel and advice regarding federal and state regulatory considerations and represent the company before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and potentially the Oregon Public Utility Commission. You will be one of the primary lawyers in the Legal Department for regulatory issues related to transmission planning, operations, and FERC matters generally.
This role involves assisting the Company in complying with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, advocating for company positions, and potentially representing the company in contested proceedings before regulatory agencies. The successful candidate will join a practice group and legal department that values collaboration, creative problem-solving, and results.

Key Responsibilities
Provides legal counsel on federal regulatory issues, developing and recommending company positions to further legal interests and mitigate risks in commercial matters, rate proceedings, regional collaborations, and regulatory proceedings, including audits.
Identifies and assesses legal, business, and regulatory risks, and offers steps to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Prepares and reviews legal contracts and documents, providing analyses, interpretations, and recommendations in line with policies and laws.
Implements process improvements within the Legal department, contributing to the overall strategy and goals of business partners, the practice group, and the department.
Represents and advocates for PGE’s interests to governmental agencies, third parties, and counter parties.
Manages outside counsel to ensure cost-effective, high-quality legal support as needed.
Education/Experience/Certifications
Requires a Juris Doctor degree. Eight to 15 years of experience in transmission regulatory and FERC matters, in private practice, in-house, or government. Must be admitted to the Oregon State Bar (or able to be admitted within 6 months of employment).

Compensation Range: $132,160.00 - $281,710.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
