As a Builders Risk Underwriter, you will quarterback the sales and underwriting process by building strong relationships with agents and brokers, ensuring that The Hartford is the carrier of choice. Success in this role includes effective account stewardship by managing the sales process from strategic planning to operational excellence and developing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across the team. Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers to position The Hartford as the carrier of choice. Manage the sales process from strategic planning to operational execution; develop cross-sell and up-sell opportunities. Collaborate with underwriters and leadership to drive results in a team-focused environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience 5+ years of Builders Risk Underwriting experience preferred Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external partners Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions High energy self-starter, resilient with an entrepreneurial spirit Solid time, organizational, and desk management skills Goal-oriented and able to deliver outcomes Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win Superior technical knowledge with sound decision-making and analytical skills Ability to travel approximately 25% - 35% Job title and level will be determined after careful review of the selected candidate's qualifications. Location & Schedule This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of the listed office locations will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $98,800 - $196,800 The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
