Position Summary
Hansen Hunter is seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Human Resources to build and lead our HR function. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of human resources at Hansen Hunter by developing foundational HR systems, policies, and processes that support a growing and evolving organization. The ideal candidate will be excited to both roll up their sleeves and set long-term direction, especially during times of integration and change.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Infrastructure Development: Build and lead the human resources function, including all core areas such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefits, employee relations, and compliance.
- Select and implement HR systems and tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Establish and monitor HR metrics and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Integration of Acquired Businesses: Support the integration of newly acquired teams by aligning HR practices, policies, and systems with Hansen Hunter standards.
- Partner with leadership to ensure smooth onboarding, consistent communication, and cultural alignment during transitions.
- Serve as a point of contact for HR-related questions and coordination throughout the integration process.
- Talent Management: Develop and execute strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and development.
- Lead performance management and succession planning efforts in partnership with business leaders.
- Employee Relations and Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive work culture through proactive communication, engagement initiatives, and conflict resolution.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on HR-related matters.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain employee handbooks, HR policies, and required reporting documentation.
- Policy and Process Standardization: Establish consistent, scalable HR policies and processes across all departments and locations.
- Ensure policies are well-documented, communicated, and consistently applied.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience working in a financial professional services firm, particularly one offering a full range of accounting and advisory services (e.g., audit, tax, bookkeeping, billing, and cost reporting), is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success building or scaling an HR function in a growing or evolving company.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices, including California-specific HR rules and regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.
