Ogletree Deakins has a unique opportunity in our Cross-Border practice group for an entrepreneurial, creative and experienced Associate who wants to specialize in global employment advice and counsel. The ideal candidate will have a passion for assisting multinational companies of all sizes with their labor and employment needs worldwide and advising clients on a full range of international employment issues that are unique to global workforces. We offer our attorneys multiple writing, publishing and speaking opportunities, including the opportunity to participate in our Virtual Global Employment Law Symposium and Cross-Border Catch Up podcast series. This position is fully REMOTE. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the Fair Chance Ordinance. We will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in the manner consistent with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring. Requirements Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law in the United States location in which they are located, and in good standing. During employment, attorneys must meet requirements for continuing licensure for law practice. Candidate must possess 3+ years of relevant employment law experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mission-critical. A writing sample will be required, and one that demonstrates business-centric advice is strongly preferred. Experience with at least one of the following is required, but multiple is strongly preferred: Advice and counsel In-house; and/or Management-side employment litigation
Native language speaking ability and/or fluency in a language other than English is a strong plus. Excellent analytical, “outside-the-box” critical thinking, and creative problem solving skills are required. Must be comfortable analyzing novel and complex legal issues, and designing risk-based and practical solutions in situations where multiple, and potentially conflicting, laws may apply. Must be independent and capable of managing a high volume of different projects at once, task-switching and multitasking frequently, and seeking supervision when needed. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, workflow management, and virtual communications technology platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Slack, Smartsheet, Excel, Word, iManage) required.
