Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President and Executive Director of Financial Aid, the University Financial Aid office at the University of Chicago provides exceptional customer service to all students and families requesting assistance in financing their education. Job Summary
UChicago’s Financial Aid Office processes and provides federal, state, and institutional funding for the best and brightest students admitted to the University. We provide robust scholarship and grant funding to College students without the use of loans. We administer the Federal Work-Study program allowing eligible students to work on-campus or in off-campus community service positions. The Financial Aid Office also assists with financial aid applications, offers financial literacy programming, and has available staff to provide ongoing advice throughout a student’s UChicago career.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, the Director of College Aid will utilize prior experience to provide leadership to a team of staff processing financial aid applications, awarding funding to undergraduate students, advising students about financial aid programs and financing options, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. As a part of a seasoned enrollment management team, the Director plays a pivotal role with College Admissions leadership in ensuring the enrollment of new students and maintaining the prestige and reputation of the College. Responsibilities
Manages, plans, implements, and evaluates effective financial aid programs based on the composition of the incoming class.
Represents the financial aid function internally and externally.
Collaborates on the strategic usage of and planning for financial aid technology and operational initiatives.
Contributes to developing and modifying overall long-term financial strategies.
Reviews current business processes and makes recommendations to improve workflow and effectiveness.
Oversees the testing of new software installations and troubleshoots system-related problems.
Monitors the provision of financial aid advising to prospective and current students.
Manages professional staff that perform activities related to the awarding of financial aid funds, and coordinates, assigns, and monitors work assignments
Assists with evaluation, implementation, and management of the financial aid budgets
Pursues ongoing understanding of financial aid regulations to ensure student financial aid services are compliant.
Incorporates design decisions into financial aid strategies responding to changes in state and federal programs.
Manages professional staff that perform activities related to the awarding of financial aid funds through scholarships, grants-in-aid, loans, and student employment programs. Evaluates, implements and manages the tuition revenue and financial aid budgets.
Ensures student financial aid services are in compliance with existing federal regulations. Incorporates design decisions into financial aid strategies responding to changes in federal programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Bachelor’s degree.
Master’s degree.
Experience:
Six or more years of progressive experience in a financial aid office.
Managing and leading a financial aid team.
Extensive customer service experience.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of federal and state student financial aid program regulations.
Advanced knowledge of financial aid operational system and related software applications.
Proficient with Oracle Campus Solutions and Technolutions Slate.
Familiarity with federal education department systems.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
Understanding of enrollment management.
