Overview Job Title: Director, Mergers & Acquisitions Location: Remote Reports To: SVP Growth, M&A Company Anywhere Real Estate Inc. We are seeking a dynamic Director of M&A to join our M&A office and shape the future of real estate through strategic acquisitions and partnerships.
Position Summary The Director of Mergers & Acquisitions will identify, evaluate, and execute acquisitions and investments across Anywhere’s ecosystem—including franchise operations, brokerage businesses, and adjacent proptech opportunities. As a generalist, this leader will bring strategic insight, financial rigor, and cross-functional collaboration to support growth across all segments of the business.
Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Evaluation
Identify acquisition and investment opportunities aligned with Anywhere’s strategic goals.
Build relationships with external partners including brokers, bankers, founders, and advisors.
Analyze industry trends, competitive landscapes, and whitespace opportunities.
Deal Execution & Analysis
Lead due diligence efforts, partnering with finance, legal, product, HR, and operations.
Develop complex financial models and valuation scenarios (DCF, precedent transactions, public comps).
Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to executive leadership and board committees.
Support term sheet negotiation and transaction structuring.
Integration & Operational Alignment
Collaborate with business unit leaders and functional teams to ensure smooth integration and realization of deal synergies.
Monitor post-acquisition performance and support continuous optimization.
Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration
Work across Anywhere’s enterprise—from national brands to tech platforms—to evaluate strategic fit and execution readiness.
Provide thought leadership on buy/build/partner decisions and long-term value creation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
8–10+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, or private equity, ideally with exposure to real estate or franchise businesses.
Demonstrated experience leading multiple end-to-end transactions, including diligence, modeling, negotiation, and integration.
Strong understanding of real estate, technology-enabled services, or consumer-facing platforms is a plus.
Excellent financial modeling, communication, and executive presentation skills.
Ability to operate in a complex, matrixed organization and manage multiple stakeholders.
