Overview Maxar Space is seeking a Director of Mission Architecture who will be responsible for working with business development leads and program managers to develop mission and satellite system solutions that meet intelligence or defense requirements. This role is based in our Palo Alto, CA offices and may be performed remotely within the U.S., with frequent travel to Palo Alto and customer locations. You will help develop campaign strategy and lead the definition of the systems architecture, mission specifications, and working parameters that will flow into the technical baseline for satellite bus, payloads, ground architecture, cybersecurity, and command and control.
Responsibilities Providing overall technical leadership and applying engineering knowledge to large and/or complex programs in the design, development, test and integration of complex, specialized products and/or technologies
Developing the technical baseline consistent with win strategy including subcontractor capabilities and technologies
Collaborating with Program Managers and program team members to develop system level requirements and translate those into specific requirements for product development
Leading the development of system architecture and system design documentation
Providing technical oversight and review support to development groups during program design and development
Developing mission level test methodologies for verification and validation of system requirements
Preparing supporting documentation beginning with concept development, proposal writing of the technical volumes, operational concepts, and test methods
Working with Program Managers to develop initial program schedules and budgets
Minimum Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS security clearance
BS degree in an engineering field or related field; Master’s degree preferred
15 years of related experience in a technical capacity, including experience with Intelligence or Defense programs
Knowledge and experience in satellite constellation architecture including orbit definition, mission concepts of operations, satellite systems design, analysis, integration, and verification
Knowledge and experience in the design, analysis, integration and/or test of mission-critical hardware
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
Experience working with customers, subcontractors and vendors at various levels, both technical and business relationships
Strong leadership with excellent communication, initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize tasks; willingness to learn and adapt
Experience with project management practices
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Pay Transparency In support of pay transparency at Maxar, salary ranges are disclosed on all U.S. job postings. Starting pay is determined based on job-related factors including experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, location, and market conditions.
The base pay for this position within Colorado: $161,000.00 - $267,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within New Jersey: $161,000.00 - $267,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area: $176,000.00 - $294,000.00 annually.
The base pay for this position within California: $185,000.00 - $307,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and each location may have a different range.

Incentives This position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results. The specific incentive plan and targets will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
