Overview Director Process & Capabilities Lead – Large Molecule Automation and Digital Research. Location: Cambridge, Boston area (hybrid). Role focused on redefining, automating, and digitalizing discovery workflows in large molecule (biologics) research as part of Takeda’s Digital Research Transformation. Responsibilities Strategic Transformation Leadership: Spearhead end-to-end redesign of large molecule discovery processes in a closed-loop, AI-enabled, automated future-state model; drive process modernization that includes automation, high-throughput screening, generative biology, large-scale data analysis, and AI-enabled prediction models. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with scientific, computational, IT, Digital, external partners, and automation experts to ensure seamless execution and integration of new technologies; act as the trusted change leader and primary contact for lab teams to foster innovation and continuous improvement. Operational Excellence & Execution: Redesign end-to-end biologics discovery workflows focusing on automation and AI-enablement; develop, implement, and track KPIs related to workflow efficiency, data accessibility, process cycle improvements, and user adoption. Innovation & Capability Building: Collaborate with dry lab and platform teams to deliver integrated, scalable digital capabilities across the discovery spectrum; advocate for digital best practices aligned with Takeda’s transformation agenda. Qualifications Minimum 10 years’ experience in biopharma drug discovery with deep expertise in large molecule discovery (e.g., protein engineering and antibody discovery). Proven leadership in scientific workflow design and process optimization, particularly in AI/digital and lab automation initiatives. Track record of leading large-scale transformations and visionary changes; strong change management acumen. Understanding of challenges and opportunities in large molecule discovery; experience leading cross-functional teams (science, digital, IT, operations) in fast-paced settings. Advanced proficiency with lab digital tools (ELNs, LIMS) and data systems; strong familiarity with AI/ML and automation trends. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, or related discipline preferred. Location & Type Location: Boston, MA area (hybrid). Time type: Full-time. Worker Type: Employee. Job Exempt: Yes. Compensation & Benefits U.S. Base Salary Range: $174,500.00 – $274,230.00. The actual base salary offered depends on qualifications, experience, and location.
