Overview LHH is working on behalf of our fantastic client in Fairfield County who has a Director of Tax . This role is full time and on a hybrid schedule. Summary of Position Manage and lead all areas of tax practice, including software selection, tax-related projects, and client engagements.
Develop and train managers and staff and participate in mentoring employees.
Make strategic decisions for the practice and tax department, and aid in marketing efforts and new business development
Essential Functions Act as the main point of contact for all technical tax matters.
Plan and run annual tax season kick-off, monthly technical meetings, and weekly staff meetings.
Ensure staff has access to knowledge resources and keep abreast of industry changes.
Report updates and changes to the partner group, and identify and reduce inefficiencies.
Manage tax projects, monitor project profitability, and ensure timely completion.
Develop strong client relationships and ensure client retention.
Coordinate with the audit department and negotiate client fees.
Participate in new business development and lead the tax department by example
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
Minimum twelve years’ experience in public accounting
CPA license, preferably for the state of CT.
Experience using Microsoft Office and fluency in current tax law.
Demonstrated ability to bring in new business and lead a department
Preferred Qualifications Experience using ProSystems FX and QuickBooks Online
