Overview Employment Attorney [Plaintiff-side / Of Counsel] – Independent contractor position with a small but rapidly growing plaintiff-side employment law firm in Seattle, WA. Hybrid/flexible/remote work options available; must be licensed in WA or willing/able to waive in. No recruiters.
We are a recently formed, values-driven boutique labor and employment law firm dedicated to advancing worker justice. We’re seeking one or more attorneys to join us as Of Counsel, with the goal of expanding our capacity and building a collaborative, long-term relationship. This is an independent contractor role with control over schedules, client relationships, and case strategy. Compensation is a negotiated percentage of legal fees earned on matters the attorney handles or contributes to. There is potential for different partnership structures in the future for the right individual. Flexibility and collaboration are core to our approach. If you’re Seattle-based, you’ll have the option to use a well-appointed office space with access to meeting rooms, high-speed internet, Lexis access (negotiable), kitchen and common areas, and opportunities for in-person connection and mutual support. We aim to build a truly collaborative relationship, not just desk space or referrals.
Responsibilities Representing workers in individual wage and hour, discrimination, and retaliation claims Drafting demand letters, pleadings, handling discovery, and preparing legal briefs Managing or co-counseling litigation at the administrative, trial, or appellate level Participating in strategy and firm-building conversations if interested Qualifications Licensed and in good standing in Washington State (additional states welcome, but WA is necessary; willingness to waive in is acceptable) Ideally 1–2 years of experience handling employment law in WA, but we’re open to those with comparable litigation or public interest experience and a strong interest in plaintiff-side work Carry and maintain your own malpractice insurance (assistance available if needed) Passionate about workers’ rights and worker empowerment Flexibility & Collaboration Already running your own practice? No problem — affiliation with our firm doesn’t require giving that up. We’ll negotiate collaboration terms that respect your independence while fostering shared growth. Case volume can vary based on your interest and capacity, from occasional matters to a full workload supporting a full-time practice. Compensation This is not a salaried role. Attorneys will be compensated via a negotiated percentage of legal fees earned on matters they originate or work on. Actual compensation varies by case type, role, and workload. We’re open to creative, mutually beneficial arrangements. To Apply Send a brief letter of interest, resume, and a short description of your current or envisioned practice to ofcounsel@breadandroseslaw.com. Tell us why you’re interested in this kind of affiliation — and what kind of legal home you’re looking for. Thank you.
