Head of Underwriting (Florida) role at Stand — responsible for building and leading underwriting excellence from the ground up. Set performance benchmarks, refine guidelines, and harness technology to drive efficiency and strong book performance. As a key partner to leadership, you’ll play a pivotal role in launching new markets and products and redefines homeowners insurance through climate-first, data-driven resilience.

Base pay

$150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to establish performance benchmarks reflecting an effective and efficient underwriting team
  • Monitor individual and team performance against benchmarks, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure ongoing loss performance of the book of business by refining underwriting guidelines and coordinating with technology to implement needed changes
  • Maintain underwriting documents and resources, including agent training documents, vendor SOPs, formal underwriting guidelines, and other pertinent materials
  • Collaborate with the Head of New Markets on guidelines and underwriting considerations when launching a new product or state

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 7+ years of personal lines property experience, with at least 2 years of management experience
  • Proficiency in establishing and managing KPIs and operational service levels, with an eye for eliminating bottlenecks and improving efficiency
  • Experience with data vendors and usage in automated underwriting workflows
  • Demonstrated homeowners market knowledge and acumen; having high-value exposure is a plus
  • Florida-specific experience strongly preferred

Compensation

The annual base salary range for full-time employees in this position is $150,000 to $175,000 plus meaningful equity grant. Compensation decisions depend on factors including qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
