Job Title: In-house Counsel

We’re partnering with a mission-driven, VC-backed company in the clean energy space that is entering a significant phase of growth. With a strong leadership team and major funding secured, the company is launching multiple business initiatives focused on innovation, sustainability, and long-term impact.

This is a rare opportunity to step in as the company’s first in-house legal hire. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys building legal infrastructure from the ground up, and is excited to work at the intersection of clean technology and manufacturing.

The team is values-oriented, fast-moving, and committed to building a business that balances purpose with performance—all within a fully remote culture.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the company’s first internal legal resource
• Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts (vendor, customer, supply chain, etc.)
• Advise on a wide range of legal issues: risk, compliance, employment, IP, and corporate governance
• Support the buildout of manufacturing capabilities, including supply chain and procurement legal needs
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership across multiple business units
• Oversee and manage outside counsel relationships
• Build a scalable, ethical, and business-oriented legal framework

Must-Have Skills:

• JD from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership
• 5+ years of experience, ideally with a blend of law firm and in-house roles
• Background in clean energy or renewable technology
• Experience working with startups or high-growth companies
• Comfortable working across multiple legal areas (commercial, regulatory, corporate, etc.)

Nice to Have Skills:

• Clean energy and manufacturing products
• Prior legal work in hardware or energy supply chain environments
• Experience working in a values-led or public benefit corporation
• Familiarity with building legal processes from scratch
• Exposure to IP strategy and technology licensing
