Position Summary: The Center for Community Alternatives (CCA) is looking for a reliable Junior Budget Analyst to progressively help us in effective budget planning and spending. The Junior Budget Analyst will perform daily financial operations and assist with invoicing, pulling backup documentation for the Senior Budget Analysts, and with the development and management of the budgets, including external grants and contracts, federally funded projects and gifts.
Experience in finance or analysis is not necessary. If you have a desire to learn, we are willing to train you. Recent high school or college graduates looking for resume building opportunities are encouraged to apply. This position is designed to be a training opportunity to learn finance roles within a non-profit organization.
Direct Supervisor: Budget Analyst ManagerDuties and Responsibilities:
- Takes responsibility, in partnership with program staff, in managing the financial operations of one or more program areas, enabling programs to achieve their intended outcomes while also achieving acceptable bottom line results on an annual basis.
- Efficiently compiles and submits invoices to submit to federal, state, and local grant funders.
- Assists in monitoring budget allocations, expense allocations, and related financial activities within specific funding sources ensuring that allocations are accurate, expenses are within budget and fiscal practices are followed.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining complex spreadsheets used for budgeting, forecasting, and assisting the program directors in maximizing budgets.
- Processes participant stipends, subcontractor invoices, and purchase orders while ensuring the various necessary documentation is on file and organized.
- Draft various journal entries in a consistently timely fashion.
- Assess and recommend improvements to current operations.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma with an interest in finance and 0-3 years' experience in analysis, finance, or other related fields.
- Previous experience and/or interest in finance with non-profit grant-funded agency highly desired
- Experience with accounting software, such as Sage Intacct and Quickbooks is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly with Excel, and desire for training on functions within Excel such as vlookup and pivot tables if not known.

- Desire to learn about grant funding and contract regulations

- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities
- Ability to work independently and set goals in the frameworks of the department and agency
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with finance department and programs across agency.
