The Role Ketryx is hiring its first Legal Counsel to build and scale our legal function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to be the founding legal expert at one of Boston's fastest-growing B2B startups. You'll work closely with our leadership team, providing strategic legal guidance that supports our rapid growth while navigating the complexities of the life sciences and technology sectors. About You You are a pragmatic, business-minded lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You are comfortable being a generalist, advising on a broad range of legal matters, from commercial contracts and intellectual property to data privacy and regulatory compliance. You have a passion for technology and a deep understanding of how legal strategy can accelerate—not obstruct—business goals. As a builder, you are driven to create scalable processes and systems that will support Ketryx as we expand into new markets and product lines. Responsibilities Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS, vendor, partnership, and non-disclosure agreements. Corporate Governance & Fundraising: Advise on corporate legal matters, including board governance, equity matters, and future fundraising rounds. Intellectual Property (IP): Develop and manage the company’s IP strategy, including trademarks, patents, and copyright, to protect our core technology and assets. Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure compliance with global data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and other regulations relevant to the MedTech and SaaS industries. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks across the organization, providing proactive counsel to leadership and cross-functional teams. Legal Operations: Build and maintain scalable legal processes, including contract management systems, to improve efficiency and support business growth. External Counsel Management: Manage relationships with and serve as the primary point of contact for outside legal counsel on specialized matters. Requirements & Skills Legal Expertise: Juris Doctor (JD) degree and an active member of the Massachusetts bar. In-House or Startup Experience: 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with a preference for in-house experience at a high-growth SaaS, MedTech, or Life Science company. SaaS Acumen: Strong working knowledge of legal issues specific to the SaaS business model, including licensing, data security, and service level agreements. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FDA regulations, HIPAA, and other compliance frameworks relevant to medical devices and life sciences. Hands-on Operator: The ability to be a department of one and handle a wide variety of legal challenges with autonomy and sound judgment. Strategic & Collaborative: A trusted partner to all levels of the organization, capable of translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable business advice.
