About the Role
We are seeking a Legal Editor to join our US Content Team. The Legal Editor will use their knowledge of employment law and HR best practices to create clear, practical, and authoritative content for Brightmine users, potential users, and internal audiences. This role ensures that assigned content is accurate, current, and user-friendly, while also contributing to Brightmine's competitive differentiation in the market. The position may be based in New Jersey (preferred) or remote.
About the Team
The US Content Team works collaboratively across Brightmine to deliver timely, accurate, and relevant HR and employment law content. The team partners with colleagues in the UK content team, product, marketing, sales, and customer success, as well as with external experts, to deliver content that aligns with Brightmine's editorial standards and business priorities. Our mission is to provide resources that reflect both the highest editorial quality and the evolving needs of HR professionals.
You'll Be Responsible For
Monitoring and analyzing employment law developments to update existing content and create new resources.
Writing, editing, and updating materials on legislation, case law, and HR best practices with accuracy and clarity.
Driving or supporting content strategy by identifying gaps, proposing new resources, and aligning editorial plans with business needs.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure content integrates seamlessly into Brightmine products and supports product enhancements.
Peer-reviewing colleagues' work for accuracy, readability, tone, and adherence to editorial standards.
Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to communicate the value of Brightmine's offerings.
Supporting product innovation by working with sales, marketing, and product teams to enhance content delivery.
Identifying and expanding critical content assets to strengthen Brightmine's value proposition.
Contributing to thought leadership initiatives such as webinars, white papers, and marketing materials.
Engaging with users and prospects to respond to content-related questions and gather feedback for future development.
Exploring AI tools and editorial technologies to improve efficiency and quality in the content workflow.
Requirements
J.D. or equivalent legal experience; senior-level HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP), or equivalent degree/experience preferred.
Editorial experience in legal publishing, HR, or compensation content preferred.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to simplify complex legal topics.
Close attention to detail, accuracy, and editorial consistency.
Proven ability to conduct legal research using primary and secondary resources.
Excellent organizational and time management skills; experience with project management software (e.g., Wrike).
Collaborative mindset, with ability to lead small teams and work cross-functionally.
Familiarity with content management systems for uploading and managing online content.
Openness to innovation, including using AI to streamline editorial processes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for Minnesota, Hawaii, and Colorado: $70,200 - $117,100 USD
The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for Illinois, Maryland and Washington: $73,700 - 122,900 USD
The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for California and Washington DC: $80,000 - $134,700 USD
