About the job: As Manager, Processs Modeling, you will manage the research and development of a portfolio of JMP statistical capabilities including statistical process control, time series, as well as core capabilities like JMP’s Distribution and Fit Y By X platforms. You will balance the development of new features and tending of existing ones while maintaining high quality standards. You will facilitate collaboration and communication between your development team with other JMP R&D teams that test and document the software, write the documentation and coordinate with other development teams on joint initiatives. You will: Contribute in a leadership/influencer role to the alignment of JMP R&D projects in coordination with JMP’s Product Management team. You will justify increased staffing, hiring and training of new and existing development staff to implement these goals. Prioritize and deliver feedback on projects that will have a broad impact, focusing on product quality, consistency, and usability by non-experts with scientific/engineering backgrounds. Ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner that aligns with our development cycle. Ensure that developers clearly communicate necessary product information to testing, documentation, and product management teams. Develop talent at all levels of expertise, with a special focus on ensuring information transfer from experienced developers to ones early in their career. Additional Responsibilities: Ensure the continuity of our collaborative work culture that encourages open asking/answering of questions and seek/provide assistance throughout JMP without prompting. Empowering team members to operate independently or collaborate with each other as needed. Education and Experience Requirements: PhD in Statistics or a related data analysis oriented quantitative discipline. At least 10 years of experience working in a commercial software development environment. At least 3 years of experience in either a management, team lead, or mentoring role in an R&D capacity. A flexible and facilitative leadership style suitable for delivering the best results from an experienced team of technical experts. Outstanding oral and written communication skills as evidenced by refereed journal publications and conference presentations. Research level mastery of at least one of the following areas: statistical process control, time series, signal processing, or industrial multivariate statistical analysis, and the ability to obtain user level mastery of the remaining ones. Ability to comprehend the details of complex system software. Stays current with upcoming and maturing technologies within JMP and across the industry. Ability to present or demonstrate software to users, internal experts, and at conferences in a way that demonstrates value, highlighting technological and functional benefits. Demonstrated mastery of at least two of the following programming languages: JSL, SAS, python, R, Matlab, C, or C++. World-class benefits Highlights include...
