Job Description The Principal Architect is responsible for leading strategic solutions and architectures that fulfill specific business and technology outcomes. Solutions include projects, products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes, and information), shared infrastructure services, and shared application services. The Principal Architect provides leadership, analysis, and design tasks to support the development of solutions that meet business needs and align with architecture governance and standards. This position creates deliverables for managing the "to be" and "as is" architecture for the assigned area. Responsibilities Research and provide information related to the adoption of emerging technology trends, disruptions, and practices relevant to the domain. Engage key stakeholders to identify business and technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable and drive business outcomes. Translate business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints to achieve business objectives and document all architecture design and analysis work. Develop solution and architecture deliverables to guide solution development across products, services, projects, and systems. Participate in the development and application of principles, standards, and patterns through architecture assurance and governance. Maintain and evolve the architecture and solution context (current, transition, and future states) for the assigned area. Act as a consultant on a broad range of architectures, technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive business outcomes. Analyze and monitor the assigned area to detect deficiencies, legacy issues, and technical debt, recommending improvements. Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software and technology standards and services, designing standard and custom software configurations. Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; HS diploma or GED required. 8 years of related experience in Business Analysis, System Design, Development, Systems Engineering, or technical architecture, including 3 years in an Architect role. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Additional Qualifications Experience with design and architecture patterns. Effective communication and presentation skills with stakeholders. Ability to define, plan, and initiate architecture for scope. Broad domain understanding with pragmatic solutions. Self-learner, able to work independently. Experience with various solution types, including new builds, legacy enhancements, COTS packages, and Cloud integrations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with regulatory compliance (HIPAA, PCI). Experience in PBM/healthcare industry. Experience working in Agile/Product Delivery models. Knowledge of software development lifecycle and project management. Physical Demands Travel up to 5%. Constant sitting, talking, hearing; frequent reaching; occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required. All employees must adhere to security responsibilities, legal, regulatory, and internal policies. Potential pay ranges from $124,000 to $211,000 based on experience and skills.
