A well-established organization in the financial services sector is seeking a Commercial Legal Counsel to join its legal team, focusing on procurement contracts. The company plays a key role in supporting financial market operations and is subject to regulatory oversight. This is a strategic opportunity to contribute to a high-impact legal function within a complex and fast-paced environment. Location: Hybrid – Chicago, IL (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) Job Summary Commercial/Procurement Legal Counsel Responsibilities: Independently lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of vendor contracts, including SaaS, software licenses, cloud computing, AI, and professional services agreements. Provide pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders, balancing legal risk with business objectives. Collaborate with sourcing, IT, compliance, and security teams to ensure contracts meet legal and operational standards. Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and streamlined processes. Support continuous improvement of contract management systems and practices. Enforce legal department policies related to commercial transactions. Participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as required. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial contracts, including in-house legal work. Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements and deliver creative, business-minded solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and experience building cross-functional relationships. Familiarity with technology transactions and regulated industries. Experience with financial services or working within a regulated environment is a plus.
