Overview The Boston Foundation seeks to hire a Program Associate, Safety Net Grants - Boston, MA in Boston, MA. The role supports the Safety Net Grants (SNG) program, providing timely investment in organizations addressing immediate essential needs in marginalized communities. Reports to the Senior Program Officer, Support for the Social Safety Net. Responsibilities Respond to phone and email inquiries from potential and current grant applicants; provide staff and external review teams with application materials and grant reports; follow up with applicants throughout the review process; process payments for awarded grants. Process grant applications and reports using online grants management systems (Foundation Power, Smart Simple, Salesforce). Track open applications, coordinate with applicants, grantees, and Program staff; maintain website and database. Research organizations aligned with Field of Interest Funds to build out the Safety Net Grants pipeline. Prepare and communicate grant payments and installments; manage communications and track all grant payments using Excel and Microsoft Teams. Communicate externally with grantees and applicants and internally with Program staff and proposal review teams. Provide reports, responses to inquiries, and grant histories to internal staff. Support collection and analysis of feedback from applicants and reviewers to improve SNG program, including participatory processes. Support other responsive grantmaking initiatives (Food, Fuel, & Shelter Fund). Assist the Senior Director of Grants Management with grant processing for other open programs in Smart Simple, and participate in proposal review processes for special grantmaking programs as available. Qualifications College degree or equivalent experience; minimum 2 years administrative experience (including internships). Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel; database experience preferred; ability to quickly learn new software and processes; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; strong writing and communication skills. Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines; strong time management; interest in supporting marginalized communities and vulnerable residents in Greater Boston; mature interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of people. Working Conditions Hybrid schedule: 2 days in office (Tuesdays and Thursdays); remote on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Ability to work at a workstation for long periods; use a computer keyboard for extended periods; flexible with remote and on-site requirements. The Boston Foundation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
