Overview
Senior Actuary - Member Analytics/Population Health (Remote)
Purpose: Performs advanced actuarial and management skills in the support of departmental and company objectives. Oversees and directs the work of Actuarial staff and represents the Actuarial department to senior and executive management of multiple business areas. Serve on taskforces and ensure that all information is accurately and effectively utilized.
Responsibilities
Direct the efforts of Actuarial Staff (Pricing, Actuarial Finance, Actuarial Medicare Advantage, Actuarial Innovation and Research) to accomplish near- and long-term goals set by senior management.
Collaborate with senior management to set long-term strategy within the Actuarial department.
Represent the Actuarial department to internal and external customers including state and federal regulators.
Hire, recruit and develop a purpose-driven, growing team with balanced, optimal work distribution, visibility, and SOA exam success.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages people.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in addition to the required work experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) Upon Hire Required.
Member, American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) Upon Hire Preferred.
Experience: 8 years progressively responsible experience. 3 years management experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs):
Extremely knowledgeable of risk evaluation and rating techniques and familiar with health insurance products (e.g., HMOs, Indemnity, POS/Opt-Out, Consumer-Driven and other products).
Highly developed analytical skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Computing skills with PC-based and mainframe applications.
Strong leadership skills and ability to negotiate and implement company rating policy.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple demands with a focus on service excellence and customer communication.
Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $169,600 - $314,820. Compensation details are subject to geographic differential and other factors. CareFirst offers a comprehensive benefits package, various incentive programs/plans, and 401k contribution programs/plans (eligibility requirements apply).
