The Parkinson's Foundation (PF) makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. We are seeking a Senior Development Director in the Midwest region, who will serve in a leadership role and help teams exceed fundraising goals while expanding community connections and deepening donor and volunteer engagement.
The Senior Development Director will be responsible for the personal identification, cultivation, and stewardship of mid-level donors, and will lead strategy to grow the regional donor base and foster donor loyalty. In addition to managing a personal portfolio, they will coach chapter-based fundraising leads to maximize the philanthropic potential of their portfolios. They will also set expectations and drive year-round stewardship of donors, volunteers and key partners. This position will help identify organic opportunities for increased financial support or leadership among existing field constituents and will collaborate with Chapter teams to enhance regional outreach efforts. Responsibilities:
Fundraising and Donor Relations - 70%
Working with the Regional Director and national Individual Giving colleagues, drive strategy and expansion of individual giving engagement and revenue within the Midwest Region.
Identify, qualify, solicit, and personally steward a significant portfolio of new and existing mid-level donors and prospects with the capacity to make major and principal level gifts (from $5,000 to $100,000+).
Cultivate individual and organizational relationships with prospective major volunteers, peer-to-peer fundraisers, and donors to earn philanthropic contributions for the Chapters and Region.
Coach and oversee Chapter leads in maximizing the potential of their portfolios. Set and track benchmarks to fundraising and stewardship success, and work with colleagues to maintain or replenish progressing portfolios.
Strengthen strategies for recruiting and engaging Chapter advisory board members, including coaching volunteer fund development committees to maximize their fundraising efforts and leverage their networks in support of the Foundation’s key initiatives.
Collaborate with the Central Region Major Gifts Officer and other Advancement colleagues to align donor strategies, cultivate non-cash or legacy giving opportunities, and plan regional cultivation events.
Create and adapt communication pieces for donors. Translate highly technical information into accessible written and verbal language that will compel donors to support key programs and projects.
Collaborate with the Regional Director to manage Chapter and Regional budgets.
Use Raiser’s Edge (RE) database to documentmoves management activity and maintain accurate relationship statuses and financial projections. Support data-driven strategy by analyzing donor trends and identifying key prospects.
Leadership and Coaching – 10% :
Support the professional development of all regional team members through coaching and modeling.
Serve as an active member of the larger national and Field Advancement teams: support the implementation of short- and long-term objectives; attend staff meetings; serve on special task forces; participate in cross-departmental meetings; and contribute to the Parkinson’s Foundation strategic plan and overall mission.
This role may evolve to include the supervision of regional advancement team members, in alignment with the regions organizational and staffing needs, while continuing to provide coaching and mentorship to junior staff.
When necessary, serve as a fundraising generalist working to support temporary regional staff vacancies.
