Senior Director, Regional Sales – Northeast. Remote. Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA) is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Position Summary
The Senior Director of Regional Sales (SDRS) will report to the Executive Director of Sales and is responsible for Vera’s first commercial launch. This leader will build, coach, and manage a high-performing team of nephrology rare disease sales specialists (7–9 direct reports). You will set strategic direction for your region, drive execution, and foster cross-functional collaboration across marketing, training, field reimbursement, field medical, and patient support services.
Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of rare disease sales specialists
- Create a culture of accountability, resilience, and continuous learning
- Serve as a role model for Vera’s values, compliance standards, and commitment to patients
- Commercial Execution: Drive sales performance and achieve or exceed regional targets for new patient starts and/or other objectives defined by Vera
- Act as a player-coach by building strong relationships with key HCPs and accounts
- Lead regional execution of launch strategies to bring atacicept to patients with IgAN
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Patient Support, Field Reimbursement, Marketing, Regional Marketing, and other customer-facing functions to ensure coordinated customer engagement as a One Vera team
- Provide strategic input to shape regional and national initiatives with a patient-first mindset
- Business & Market Leadership: Demonstrate expertise in IgAN, its evolving treatment landscape, and the patient journey; apply financial and business acumen, including budget oversight and P&L management
- Operational Excellence: Foster a culture that ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies
- Travel extensively within the region (3–4 days/week) and to headquarters in San Francisco and national/regional meetings as required
- Territory: This region covers New York City, Boston, the New England states, and parts of Upstate New York
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 12+ years of healthcare/biopharmaceutical experience
- 5+ years of front-line sales management experience
- Proven track record in specialty or rare disease sales; nephrology experience is a plus
- Consistent history of top sales performance as a leader, recognition/awards, and leadership impact
- Experience leading cross-functional, customer-facing teams
- Strong knowledge of compliance, regulatory standards, and industry best practices
- Strong preference for residing in the geographic region
- Valid driver’s license
