Overview The Senior Director, Safety & Quality Learning Network (SQLN) develops and implements programs that support the Boston Children’s Hospital Safety and Quality Learning Network, ensuring alignment with the department’s philosophy and the hospital’s mission and values. This role provides visionary leadership to individuals and interdisciplinary teams to benefit patients and families. The Senior Director collaborates closely with senior leadership, management, and physician colleagues to achieve programmatic goals. Success requires creative and strategic thinking while balancing big-picture and day-to-day operational details. Responsibilities Manage the cohesive home base SQLN platform; a one-stop shop for resources in safety, quality, process improvement, human factors, and simulation. Develop and implement programs that support the Boston Children’s Hospital Safety and Quality Learning Network. Develop strategies that emphasize the cultural change necessary to fully realize the program’s vision. Lead program launches, communications, performance monitoring, evaluation, risk management, and internal/external reporting. Develop short courses and extended courses; a suite of flexible learning experiences ranging from focused short sessions to in-depth, multi-month programs. Manage networking events; purposeful gatherings that connect professionals across roles and disciplines. Lead symposiums and conferences; high-impact events focused on safety and quality innovation. Recruit and oversee a scholar cohort; a project-based learning experience pairing participants with expert mentors and a peer network. Create a leadership training program; a formal initiative to develop leaders in safety and quality. Determine, develop, and evaluate budgets, administrative strategies, and information systems in support of clinical programs. Lead individuals and work groups to continuously improve performance by ensuring application of quality principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborate with senior leadership, management, and physician colleagues to achieve programmatic goals. Create an environment that fosters excellence, sensitivity, equity, and leadership. Develop and implement equitable criteria and processes for selection, evaluation, promotion, and termination of staff within designated areas of responsibility, consistent with system standards. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in a healthcare-related discipline (e.g., public health, quality systems management, business administration, or clinical discipline). 10 years of experience in safety and quality leadership and management. Strong background in healthcare administration, strategic planning, and program development. Visionary leadership with the ability to manage both strategic initiatives and day-to-day details. Proven leadership and team management abilities. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Experience in stakeholder engagement across diverse roles and disciplines.
