As a Senior Drive Unit Design engineer, you will be responsible for design and development of Ford’s next generation EV drivetrains. You will work within the lubrication and cooling team developing production hardware. You will own hardware from concept to production with exposure to sourcing, validation, and ramp. Responsibilities Improve the correlation between predicted and measured results by leveraging CAE tools and empirical test resources. Design production hardware for drive units such as windage trays, oil flow control hardware and other drive unit systems hardware. Propose and validate potential system improvements, collaborate closely with teams to make sure such improvements are effectively implemented. Contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirement reviews to further optimize the powertrain system cross functionally. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate closely with the test engineers and subject matter experts to develop test rigs and test plans to help validate mechanical components. Design and develop subsystem testing capabilities. Utilize test rigs to execute development testing that will lead to design improvements. Generate and maintain clear documentation of test findings. Qualifications Bachelor's or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and validating electric vehicle drive unit components, or equivalent. Experience using simulation/modelling tools such as Catia, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, GT-Suite, ANSYS or equivalent applications. Experience with instrumentation, measurement and data acquisition of powertrain systems in a lab environment. Strong sense of ownership. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong first principles understanding. An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
