We are seeking a Senior Manager, Tax who will play a key role in managing taxes globally with a focus on ensuring global compliance, risk management, and tax planning. This position is a highly visible, key leader within the global Finance organization and will manage many areas of taxation and develop relationships with various facets of the business to achieve results. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Play a key role in managing outside tax preparers to achieve maximum quality while incurring minimal fees. Manage annual US income tax return process, including ownership of taxable income calculations and managing timelines. Assist VP of Tax and local Finance teams in identifying and executing global tax planning. Prepare/review quarterly and annual tax provisions. Ensure global tax reporting is completed timely and accurately. Assist VP of Tax in managing global tax compliance by working with global consultant and local Finance teams. Oversee North American sales and use tax process from beginning to end including overseeing Avalara products to mitigate sales tax exposure potential. Assist VP of Tax in designing and executing future state of U.S. sales tax processes. Oversee Tax Analyst to ensure monthly sales and use tax, personal property tax, gross receipts taxes, etc. are filed timely and accurately and that the tax exemptions are managed with assistance by the Credit team. Manage tax audits and ensure positive outcomes, including negotiating with auditors. Assist VP of Tax in developing internal control processes and procedures to meet or exceed requirements. Assist VP of Tax in M&A and onboarding acquired companies into tax processes and ensuring no gaps in compliance. Actively evaluate processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement and streamlining cumbersome or manually-intensive work. Model the Berlin Values and serve as a champion for the Berlin Culture as defined in the employer and employee portions of the T-Chart. Qualified Professionals Will Possess Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA or Master of Science in Taxation required (both CPA and MST preferred). 10+ years of increasingly analytical experience (Public accounting a plus, but not required). Proven success in developing and leading people using a collaborative management style in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Proven technical tax skills, a strong process orientation, demonstrated leadership and a drive to streamline processes and enhance the quality of tax outputs. Knowledge of various areas of taxation including US federal and state income, international and transaction taxes. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability and desire to interface cross-functionally and with outside service providers. Robust analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong drive to enhance processes while being a great internal customer service provider. Ability to be flexible and work well with the team, both internal and external. Detail and project oriented with a proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver results. Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Working Environment Hybrid work schedule in a corporate office environment at our headquarters in downtown Chicago. We are currently located at 525 W. Monroe in the West Loop.
