Your Opportunity
This position is client-facing and involves staff leadership within our Management Consulting Team (MTC). As a consultant in the MTC, you will help grow our business and manage teams that design and implement economic analyses to support federal, state, and local government clients in making informed resource management decisions. Projects will include cost-benefit analyses, national economic development analyses, ecosystem service valuation, and regional economic impact statements. The role is flexible in location and can be remote.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Support business development in Nature Based Solutions (NbS), Climate Solutions, Coastal Resilience, Ecosystem Restoration, Energy Transition, Sustainability, and International Development by communicating the economic value of projects such as groundwater remediation, wetlands restoration, water quality regulations, carbon offsets, or air quality regulations.
- Manage research teams to evaluate economic and financial feasibility of traditional structural projects and nature-based solutions where appropriate. Examples include models and facilities to protect built infrastructure from flooding or restoration of a wetland to manage storm runoff and serve as an ecological filter.
- Train junior staff in technical skills and workload management.
- Serve as an active member of multiple teams and perform tasks as required.
- Maintain and grow client relationships and lead business development efforts in responding to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Serve as an independent reviewer of analyses to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools used as well as the solutions evaluated.
- In many cases, serve as the project manager for client engagements, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget.
- Meet performance goals and objectives regarding client demands, delivery milestones, quality standards, project management framework, mentoring junior staff, and training activities.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage research teams both technically and operationally.
- Apply knowledge of industry-standard methods for valuing ecosystem services and nature-based solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel for quantitative modeling and analysis, PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Acrobat Pro, Teams, and related business systems. Experience with SQL, Power BI/Tableau, GIS, IMPLAN, Python, R, or similar tools is a plus.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Be a self-starter capable of working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail due to public-facing deliverables.
- Travel as needed, up to approximately 10–15% depending on assignment.

Education and Experience
A combination of education and experience will be considered for the successful candidate.
- Ph.D. in economics with fifteen+ years of experience in consulting.
- Experience in natural resource economics or work with federal, state, regional agencies, NGOs, or private firms.
