A Day in the Life We are seeking an exceptional transactional attorney with digital health technology experience to join our growing Medtronic US Commercial Legal Team. The team works with the Medtronic Global Commercial Office and Medtronic Operating Units to support commercial transactions for Medtronic’s medical technology products, services and solutions offered and sold in the United States. This role will lead contracting strategies across Medtronic’s Cardiovascular, Neuroscience and Medical Surgical Portfolios to support commercialization of digital health solutions, sophisticated medical devices, remote service systems and other data-enabled healthcare technology solutions for Medtronic’s customers and partners. The role requires a proactive, decisive, creative, and compliant mindset to shape Medtronic’s commercial success in the digital health landscape. This position is remote to enhance cross-functional collaboration and competitive edge and reports to the Legal Director, US Commercial Legal organization. Responsibilities Support the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial arrangements and strategic partnerships in the technology, digital health, and healthcare space. Identify, assess, and communicate key contract risks, obligations, and practical mitigation strategies to internal stakeholders. In partnership with other subject matter experts, support discussions and negotiations regarding customer implementation strategies, product functionality, data use, and access and security issues. Collaborate with Medtronic’s legal Centers of Expertise (COEs) and other professionals to deliver practical and strategic advice to sales, finance, and other stakeholders to close deals compliantly. Advise on federal healthcare laws, antikickback, antitrust, False Claims Act, HIPAA, state data privacy and security laws, software licensing, FDA law, IP and other legal risk areas governing data-enabled healthcare technology and AI transactions. Develop, review, or implement company-wide or functionally specific training programs as described above. Monitor evolving regulatory standards impacting commercial transactions of data-enabled healthcare technology and AI transactions. Partner with stakeholders to build efficient processes, including playbooks, templates, self-help workflows, and document management systems. Minimum Requirements Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized US law school. Licensed to practice law and in good standing under the Bar of at least one state in the United States or in Washington D.C. 8+ years of legal experience, including 5+ years advising on laws and regulations relevant to the sale and promotion of data-enabled healthcare technology products/services, and negotiating/drafting related agreements. Nice to Have Experience supporting Sales and Marketing, with a focus on digital health enabled medical devices and services. Extensive experience negotiating and drafting technology licensing agreements, data use agreements, Business Associate Agreements, and related commercial contracts. Experience advising on data protection, privacy, and security for a large, regulated organization. Ability to identify high risk situations and provide guidance, including courageous and diplomatic decision-making. Ability to manage multiple complex assignments across stakeholders within timelines. Ability to clearly communicate complex legal risks to stakeholders. Solutions-oriented, proactive, and continuous improvement mindset. Leadership presence to influence at all levels of the organization. Strong active listening skills and big-picture understanding. Benefits & Compensation Medtronic offers a competitive Salary and flexible Benefits Package. Salary ranges for U.S. locations: $190,400.00 - $285,600.00. This position is eligible for incentive plans (MIP and annual long-term incentives). The base salary range applies across the United States with variations by experience, location, and applicable laws.
